Kyoto seems to have many sento.
I realized that because the guests who stayed here at KéFU have often asked me about sento.
Recently, it's been mourned that sento has continued to decrease in all over the country. Nishijin are is not an exception and a number of sento have closed. But it seems that relatively many are still in business, possibly because there are still a lot of old houses left.
It may sound overbold, but this sento package was born with the hope to help sento in some way and to make it easier for people to visit sento.
Nobody in KeFU staff of avarage age of 20s goes to sento regularly, so the package is made with the perspective: "What contents would encourage "sento beginners" to go to sento?".
The information could be boring for those who love sento and goes to sento regularly, but still, we were able to feel close to sento culture while preparing the package. Hoping that this will create an opportunity for hundreds of people to visit sento...

In Kyoto, there are a number of sento full of traditions and histories, and is always bustling with locals.
Nishijin, where sento concentrate especially, creates old and nice atmosphere with traditional houses. Just walking to the sento will be a fun experience.
The closest sento to KéFU is Funaoka Onsen, which is registered as Tangible Cultural Properties. Exterior, Interior, building structure and art works preserve elegance and aesthetics of Taisho Period and Showa Period.
One of the charm of this onsen is that it has open-air bath even though it's middle of a city.
Beside various types of baths to enjoy, there are sculptures on the ceiling and on the wall that are magnificent. Majolica tile is a must-see as well.
Since the package comes with a basket, towel and amenities, it's nice you don't need to bring anything from home.
Amenity brand is called "OSAJI", a natural cosmetics brand popular for its natural botanical scent.
Our 2nd sento zine collaborates with a illustrator/manga writer "sukeracko" who wrote original sento poster with cute characters and a manga of a story of visiting nearby sento, for this zine. There are also mini articles about sento in Nishijin, written by KéFU staff.
