Description
Anabuki Tei is your castle retreat in the heart of Takamatsu — the perfect luxury base for any bonsai-themed trip. This historic building near the center of town is spacious, beautiful, and historic. Have this beautiful space to yourself and discover why the Setouchi region is called the Land of Art.
The unique building is large enough to enjoy a stay together with up to 12 people, while secluded enough to give a feeling of privacy. Inside, a mix of Eastern and Western aesthetics brings a sense of eclectic style. In the garden, you’ll appreciate the secluded lawn and patio, surrounded by precious pine trees representative of Takamatsu.
Being in Takamatsu, the number one producer of pine bonsai in Japan, a private bonsai lecture here will put you in touch with the essence of the art. With the bonsai experience option, a professional bonsai-shi will give you a lecture on how to enjoy bonsai, introduce decorated bonsai, and teach you the basics of the art.
In the wasanbon lesson, you’ll learn about a local specialty sweet made of finely grained dry sugar. Wasanbon is one of Japan’s finest confections, a melt-in-your-mouth traditional sweet that’s often served at tea ceremonies. In this activity you’ll try the final step of wasanbon-making: shaping and pressing sugar with a decorative mold. Choose from nearly 30 different wooden molds — all handcrafted by professional artisans. If you choose the wire sculpture-making activity, you’ll make a bonsai sculpture with an expert from the Hanazawa Myoshun-en bonsai garden.
You’ll bend and twist wires to the shape of a bonsai tree, learn more about the beautiful shapes of bonsai, and express your creativity in sculpting your own. You’ll also have the choice of a private chef to visit Anabuki Tei and cook your dinner. The menu will be prepared by the chef according to your request. Using ingredients from Setouchi, they can offer Japanese, Italian, and French food with your favorite cooking method, according to your wishes, including vegetarian or vegan meals.
Without intruding on your stay, your host will be around to make your stay more comfortable, and allow you to learn the story of the Anabuki family for which the residence is named.
Stay at Anabuki Tei for an unforgettable experience of Takamatsu.
