In June 2020, two photographers recreated a 110-year-old high-quality old thatched roof house in Miyama, Kyoto. Currently, thatched roofs are covered with roof tiles, but if you go up to the attic, you can still see the magnificent thatched roof. Without changing the prototype of the old folk house, they refurbished the house to suit the modern lifestyle. While restoring and reusing traditional fitting like paper sliding doors and wooden windows by themselves, and leaving Engawa, the Japanese traditional wooden veranda, and tatami rooms from where the Japanese garden can be seen, they designed the interior installing furniture collected from Spain and Scandinavia. Enjoy a space where the East and West meets in harmony.

CASA MIYAMA is located in a village of Miyama, Kyoto. Our idyllic village is surrounded by mountains, where clear streams runs through it. In the Spring, you can enjoy the plum and cherry blossoms in the garden, in the summer you can swim in the transparent river, which is just two minutes walk away. And at night, only breathtaking stars and the moon illuminate our village.

For dinner, you can order a Japanese dinner set in which varieties of Japanese foods such as tempura and sushi are included. Or you can choose our "local chicken sukiyaki". You can also bring your own food to cook on your own. Our kitchen is equipped with rice cooker, toaster, microwave, pot, frying pan, cassette stove, dishes, seasonings (salt, pepper, sugar, oil, soy sauce, mirin, sake, vinegar), tableware, cutlery, cups, and wine glasses. Please enjoy cooking together with your family or friends in a kitchen that has a Spanish marble sink. For breakfast, you can choose a Japanese breakfast from a local restaurant or order our famous Spanish breakfast. You can also bring your own breakfast.

In the Japanese garden terrace,

Enjoy the finest BBQ.

Tables and chairs are placed in the garden terrace surrounded by Japanese stone walls, making it a perfect barbecue space. You can enjoy BBQ under the stylish garden light hanging overhead. Thanks to our Weber's BBQ gas grill, you can cook meat without losing its gravy and sweetness of local vegetable. Forget about building a fire with charcoal. For the customers who picked our "Superb Spanish BBQ", Weber's BBQ gas grill, outdoor wood stove, and tarp for the rain come for free with special BBQ set that includes four kinds of Spanish tapas, Miyama's deer meet, local chicken, homemade Spanish sausages, Wagyu beef stake, local vegetables, and homemade dessert. Guests-only services such as "Engawa (Japanese traditional wooden veranda) Portrait", and "Studio Portrait Photo" are available as options. The owners of Casa Miyama, professional photographers, take pictures of you. Kura, the Japanese warehouse, that stands next to Casa Miyama, is a renovated photo studio, "Miyama Photo Studio". At the photo studio, an artistic photo session that makes extensive use of analog classical techniques such as wet plate photography and polaroid transfer are available as options at a guest-only price.
