From the lobby, from our Forest View Rooms, and uniquely from our open-air public bath, you can immerse yourself in the experience of forest bathing surrounded by pristine wilderness.
The strongly acidic hot spring water shapes the landscape, where even withered trees become part of the scenery, allowing you to appreciate the raw, untouched beauty of nature. If you are lucky, squirrels or deer may even make a brief appearance.

We take special care in choosing materials — our tatami mats are made from genuine natural rush (igusa), not synthetic fibers.

We have selected mattresses that help relieve pressure on your lower back for a more comfortable rest.

Kawayu Onsen is one of Japan’s most distinctive hot spring resorts, famous for its highly acidic waters (pH 1.8) flowing from Mount Io. This rare spring type—acidic, sulfur-rich, and iron sulfate—has long been regarded as a medicinal hot spring.
When Kawayu first developed as a hot spring town, people used to say: “Three weeks in Kawayu’s waters can cure any illness!” For generations, it has been cherished as a place for therapeutic bathing (toji).
The hot spring is believed to promote blood circulation, relieve fatigue, and provide excellent antibacterial and cleansing effects for the skin, making it especially beneficial for skin troubles. Here, the energy of the volcano nurtures a bathing culture that deeply restores both body and mind.
