Breakfast at Akamatsu features a traditional Japanese morning meal supervised by Uka Rokkon, a renowned restaurant in Gokasho.

The menu incorporates elements inspired by the meals that Omi merchants are said to have enjoyed before setting out on their journeys, offering guests a unique opportunity to experience a part of the region's history and culture.

Enjoy freshly cooked Omi rice and seasonal dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients, all served in the comfort and privacy of your accommodation.

Guesut Room

Akamatsu is a maisonette-style Japanese room featuring one tatami room on the first floor, one tatami room on the second floor, and access to a spacious communal bath.

The first floor serves as a living and dining space where guests can relax, enjoy meals, and spend time together, while the second floor is arranged as a bedroom for a comfortable night's rest.

For reservations of three or more guests, traditional Japanese futon bedding will be provided for additional guests.

Bath Room

The large tiled bath is one of the property's distinctive features.

In the evening, guests can enjoy the atmosphere of the illuminated garden trees while soaking in the bath and unwinding after a day of sightseeing.

Important Information About the Room & Facilities

Please note that Akamatsu is not a private whole-house rental accommodation.

The following areas are reserved exclusively for your use:

Living room (1st floor), Bathroom and toilet (1st floor), Bedroom (2nd floor)

All other areas of the property are shared spaces and may be used by other guests.We kindly ask that you make your reservation with this arrangement in mind.

Kitchen Facilities

The kitchen is equipped and operated as a commercial-use kitchen. If you wish to use the kitchen during your stay, please contact us in advance for consultation.

Building Information

This property is a historic Omi merchant residence owned by the City of Higashiomi and has been carefully restored and adapted for accommodation use in order to preserve it for future generations. As the building retains much of its original character and traditional construction, insulation and soundproofing may not meet modern standards. In particular, temperatures can be quite cold during winter mornings and evenings.

Due to the nature of the building, sound may travel easily throughout the property. We kindly ask guests to be considerate regarding noise, especially when opening windows and doors or during nighttime hours. As the property is located in a quiet residential village, please refrain from going out unnecessarily after 10:00 PM.

As is common with traditional Japanese houses, there are multiple steps and level changes throughout the building. Although step stools are available at the entrance, the property is not barrier-free. We appreciate your understanding.
