A Seaside Retreat
Enchanted with Memories
Walk the island, gaze at the sea, and fill your heart. The time spent quietly absorbing the gifts received from unusual/new/unique landscapes and encounters is our recommended way to experience MITZDO, our home and retreat.
Through the Silk Road to Korea and China, and further to the thriving port towns along the Seto Inland Sea, visited by merchant ships like the Kitamae-bune. Uno was once an intersection of cultures. Our living space embraces its local character, which has been woven with influences from the East and West, ancient and modern.

At MITZDO, we invite you to consider how time is spent.
MITZDO offers a way of life interwoven with the rhythm of the port town. Here, you can savor the fading light and the soft rustle of a passing breeze, letting your body act as a vessel to receive them. It is a space thoughtfully assembled to reflect MITZDO’s interpretation of Setouchi and Uno—through its architecture, antiques, music, books, furniture, and art—all designed for quiet introspection.
Consider though, this is not a luxury retreat for the masses—no lavish meals, room service, or televisions. Its structure, inherited from a Showa-era house, lacks some of the comfort and insulation of modern homes. Nor does it offer breathtaking ocean views for public display. Instead, this is a place created for connections and emotions.
MITZDO is a retreat to reconnect with yourself and with the land and space to nurture and mature sensory and poetic emotions—a peaceful mountain retreat nestled within the city.
