Japanese Wagashi Experience – Enjoy Making Nerikiri in a Traditional Kominka
Would you like to try making nerikiri, one of Japan’s iconic wagashi, in the serene atmosphere of a japanese traditional inn?
Nerikiri, a beautiful confectionery that originated in Kyoto in the late Edo period, has captivated people for over 300 years with its exquisite designs.
This experience offers a private nerikiri-making lesson exclusively for our guests. In a special setting, you will carefully craft seasonal-themed nerikiri (e.g., cherry blossoms in spring) under the guidance of an instructor. The session begins with an introduction to the history and techniques of nerikiri, followed by a demonstration, and then hands-on practice to create your own traditional sweets.
Once your nerikiri is complete, you can enjoy your handmade creations on the spot with locally sourced Maizuru tea. The tranquil ambiance of the kominka enhances this special moment.
