A Wooden Architecture That Opens 360° to Nature
SHINMINKA Villa is a collection of stays across the Ryukyu Islands, rooted in a deep respect for nature, history, and collaboration with local communities.
The Ryukyu Islands once flourished as the Ryukyu Kingdom, developing a rich culture shaped by the resources of the forests and surrounding seas.
By embracing and adapting ideas and technologies from neighboring regions, the islands developed their own sustainable way of life in harmony with the local environment.
In modern times, however, rapid technological change began to outpace this process of thoughtful adaptation. Tradition and modernity became increasingly separated, gradually distancing everyday life from the landscapes and ways of living that had been nurtured here for generations.
Rather than simply visiting tourist attractions, experience the nature and atmosphere of an Okinawan village and stay as if you were living here.
SHINMINKA Villa is a place designed for just that kind of experience.

AROUND THE VILLA
The Villa is located in a small, quiet village surrounded by nature. Please be considerate of our neighbors during your stay. Dogs and cats live in the surrounding area. Please do not feed them, even if they approach you. Okinawa’s warm, natural environment means mosquitoes and other insects may be present throughout the year. Mosquito coils are provided, but we recommend bringing insect repellent if needed. You may also hear birds and insects around the property, and occasionally geckos or small insects may find their way indoors. We hope you will embrace this closeness to nature and village life as part of the SHINMINKA Villa experience.
AMENITIES
To reduce environmental impact, we provide only essential amenities. Provided: Towels / Slippers / Shampoo / Conditioner / Body Soap / Hand Soap Disposable amenities such as toothbrushes and razors are not provided. We kindly ask you to bring your own personal items.
TYPHOONS & CANCELLATION POLICY
Typhoons may occur in Okinawa and the Amami Islands, particularly between May and October. If a typhoon is approaching, please check the latest weather and transportation updates and make your decision with safety as your priority. If you are concerned about unexpected illness, injury, or transportation cancellations, we recommend purchasing travel cancellation insurance in advance.
