Minshuku Yagajiso was founded in 1975, a year when Okinawa was alive with the excitement of the Ocean Expo. While many accommodations opened during this time, few have remained in operation for over 40 years. This remarkable longevity was made possible by the dedication of its original owners and the unwavering support of returning guests.
“I don’t mind if it’s not profitable—I simply love running this inn.”
These were the heartfelt words of the former owner, who single-handedly managed the inn, as she once shared in a magazine interview.
Marking the 50th anniversary of its founding, Hotel Yagajiso has undergone a complete renewal in January 2025, seamlessly blending the warmth of its rich history with the comforts of modern luxury.

In the lobby and select guest rooms, floorboards once used as hallways in the days of Minshuku Yagajiso have been repurposed as wall panels. These timeworn materials, rich with history, have been given new life within a renewed space, offering a warm and welcoming embrace to all who visit.
The Story Behind Our Logo
Our logo features Ufuiishi, the sacred great stone that stands as a symbol of Sumuide. Since its founding in 1975, our establishment has remained at the foot of this revered site, and the logo serves as a timeless representation of its presence.
Designed with deep respect for the region’s history and natural heritage, this emblem reflects Hotel Yagajiso’s unwavering commitment to welcoming guests with the same enduring spirit for years to come.
A Timeless Legacy Passed Through Generations
“Sumuide, the beautiful island, cherished by its people,
Ufuiishi forest standing firm, protecting the sacred grounds.”
These poetic lines, inscribed on a stone monument erected by the former owner at the entrance of the property, originate from an ancient Ryuka—traditional Okinawan verse—that celebrates the beauty of the Sumuide settlement.
Expressing the deep connection between the land, its culture, and its people, this poem captures the enduring charm of the region. Here, the timeless beauty of Sumuide continues to be preserved, unchanged by the passing years.

We have created a welcoming space where you can relax and unwind during your travels. At our lobby lounge, “Chill at Hotel Yagajiso,” you can enjoy breakfast, as well as soft drinks such as coffee and alcoholic beverages including beer and wine, all in a calm and relaxing setting.
During the day, gentle sunlight fills the space, while at night, the warm glow of soft lighting creates a tranquil atmosphere. Embraced by serenity, the lounge offers a soothing retreat for all who visit.

What are the check-in and check-out times?
• Check-in: 15:00–20:00 • Check-out: 8:00–10:00 If you plan to arrive after 20:00, please contact us in advance so that we can arrange self check-in. We will send you the necessary check-in instructions before your arrival. Please note that if you have not contacted us in advance and do not arrive by 20:00, your reservation may be cancelled. If you plan to depart before 8:00, please let our staff know in advance, either at check-in or during your stay.
Is parking available? Do I need to reserve a space?
Complimentary private parking is available approximately 60 metres from the hotel. A reservation is not required, but please let us know in advance if you plan to use the car park. Upon arrival, you may briefly stop in front of the hotel’s main entrance to unload your luggage before moving your car to our private car park.
Do you provide meals?
We serve breakfast only. Breakfast is available by reservation only and is not served buffet-style. Each breakfast is freshly prepared and served individually on a plate. You can choose between a Japanese or Western breakfast. Both include one drink and are priced at JPY 1,650 per person, including tax. Breakfast reservations, additions, or changes can be made until the following times: • Japanese breakfast: by 12:00 the previous day • Western breakfast: by 17:00 the previous day For stays of two nights or more, breakfast for subsequent days can also be added during your stay, allowing you to decide according to your plans. If you have any dietary requirements or questions about breakfast, please feel free to contact us. We do not serve lunch or dinner. However, our lobby lounge offers soft drinks such as coffee, as well as alcoholic beverages including beer and wine. Please feel free to enjoy the lounge during your stay.
Can children stay at Hotel Yagajiso?
To ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay for all our guests, Hotel Yagajiso welcomes guests aged 7 and above. To maintain a safe and peaceful environment, the following age restrictions apply: • Ground-floor rooms: Guests aged 7 and above • Upper-floor rooms: Guests aged 18 and above Guests aged 7–17 are therefore welcome to stay in our ground-floor rooms but are not permitted to stay in our upper-floor rooms. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.
What equipment is available in the guest rooms?
The following equipment is provided in each guest room: • Refrigerator (DOMETIC C60S1, 60L) • Washing machine (Panasonic NA-F5B2, 5kg) • Gas dryer (Rinnai RDT-31S, 3kg) • Hair dryer (Nobby by TESCOM NIB500A, 1300W) • Wireless portable speaker (Marshall Willen) We also provide one LED lantern (LUMENA CLASSIC) per room on loan at check-in. You are welcome to use it in your room, on the terrace, or when taking an evening walk around the neighbourhood or along the seafront. Please note: The Marshall speaker is water-resistant and may be used in the shower room or bathroom, but please avoid direct or excessive exposure to water. The LUMENA lantern may be used outdoors in light rain but should not be used in the shower room or bathroom. If any equipment is damaged during your stay, please let us know as soon as possible. Unreported damage discovered after check-out may result in repair or replacement charges.
Do all guest rooms have a bathtub?
Bathroom facilities vary depending on the room type. Some rooms have a bathtub, while others have a shower only. If you prefer a bathtub, please check the facilities listed for each room type when booking and select a room with a bathtub.
What amenities are provided in the guest rooms?
To reduce environmental impact, we do not provide disposable amenities such as toothbrushes, combs or razors. Pyjamas and slippers are also not provided, so please bring your own if needed. Is housekeeping provided during multi-night stays?
To reduce our environmental impact, we do not provide automatic daily housekeeping during multi-night stays. Upon request, we are happy to provide fresh towels, rubbish collection, amenity replenishment, and light room cleaning. Bed linen is replaced according to the length of your stay: • Up to 6 nights: No scheduled linen change • 7–13 nights: One complimentary linen change • 14 nights or more: Two complimentary linen changes For stays that include a linen change, we will arrange a convenient time with you during your stay.
How should I keep my valuables safe?
There are no safes in the guest rooms. We therefore kindly ask that you keep your valuables with you or manage them carefully during your stay.
Is the hotel non-smoking?
Yes. Hotel Yagajiso is entirely non-smoking, including electronic cigarettes. Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the hotel or on the hotel grounds, including terraces and balconies. There is no designated smoking area. If you wish to smoke, please do so outside the hotel grounds, use a portable ashtray, and be considerate of our neighbours and surroundings. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Is there anything I should be aware of regarding noise?
Hotel Yagajiso was established in 1975 and has been carefully renovated while preserving the character and history of the original building. Due to the structure of the building, sound may carry more easily. To help ensure a peaceful and relaxing stay for all our guests, we kindly ask you to be mindful of noise, particularly at night. When using a smartphone or tablet in speaker mode, please keep the volume low. We also ask for extra consideration on terraces, porches, and other outdoor areas, where sound can travel more easily.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation fees are as follows: • 15 days or more before check-in: No cancellation fee • 8–14 days before check-in: 30% of the total accommodation fee • 2–7 days before check-in: 50% of the total accommodation fee • The day before or the day of check-in: 100% of the total accommodation fee If you have any questions about our cancellation policy, please feel free to contact us.
