[Guided] Yanbaru Forest Trekking Tour
BUNAGAYA × Yanbaru Forest Trekking | An Overnight Stay to Encounter Spirits and Wildlife
When you walk through the Yanbaru Forest, you’ll find many tiny creatures living there, unnoticed by people.
On this tour, you’ll walk through the Yanbaru Forest—often called a “treasure trove of nature”—with a professional guide and enjoy encounters with rare plants and animals.
Your accommodation will be “BUNAGAYA,” a “fairy tale”-themed inn located right next to the forest.
In this quiet and serene space—said to be home to the spirit “Bunagaya”—you can spend the night surrounded by the lingering essence of nature.

■Trekking for Yanbaru lovers
Your guide is an expert on the Yanbaru Forest.
You may spot endemic bird species such as the Yanbaru rail, Noguchi’s woodpecker, and the true red-bearded babbler, and at night, you might even sense the presence of the Ryukyu blue frog or the Yanbaru long-horned beetle.
Rather than a strenuous hike, this is a “field stroll” where you can relax and listen closely to the forest. We’ll gently approach the signs of tiny life—near the grass, in the trees, and behind rocks.
■ After passing through the forest, let's take a break at the inn where the Bunagaya lives.
“BUNAGAYA” is a magical lodging facility housed in a former elementary school building.
In this space, where the scent of wood mingles with a sense of nostalgia and a storybook-like atmosphere,
you can do more than just stay the night—you can spend time feeling enveloped by nature.
As you savor the lingering presence of the life you encountered in the forest,
the time you spend quietly tuning into your own breath is the very essence of “connecting with nature.”

Information About Amenities
A diverse array of living creatures coexists in the Yanbaru Forest, and we strive to operate our facility with consideration for this rich natural environment. For this reason, as a general rule, we ask that guests bring their own disposable amenities, such as toothbrushes, hairbrushes, and razors. If you absolutely need these items, please insert 100 yen into the payment box located by the sink and feel free to use them. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation in our efforts to preserve the environment.
Information About Parking
There are several parking spaces on the premises, but because the grounds are large, the distance to the building may vary depending on where you park. We ask that guests staying overnight use the parking lot in front of the gymnasium to make it easier to unload and move your luggage.
Information About Dinner
On the grounds of Kijoka Sho School, there is a restaurant called “Fukamidori” that serves dishes made with ingredients from the Yanbaru region.
