Located within a national park, our hotel sits at the very edge of the Kawayu Onsen area, right next to the national forest. From the lobby, from our Forest View Rooms, and uniquely from our open-air public bath, you can immerse yourself in the experience of forest bathing surrounded by pristine wilderness.

The strongly acidic hot spring water shapes the landscape, where even withered trees become part of the scenery, allowing you to appreciate the raw, untouched beauty of nature. If you are lucky, squirrels or deer may even make a brief appearance.

The Healing Waters of Kawayu Onsen

For centuries, the Ainu people are believed to have used Kawayu Onsen as a special healing spring, referring to it as "Kusuri-yu" (Medicinal Hot Spring).

When Kawayu developed into a hot spring town during the Showa era, people often said:

"Spend three weeks in Kawayu Onsen, and any illness will be healed."

Since then, it has long been cherished as one of Japan's traditional onsen therapy (Toji) destinations.

The highly acidic mineral waters are known to help stimulate blood circulation, relieve fatigue, and naturally cleanse the skin. Their antibacterial properties have also been scientifically demonstrated, making Kawayu Onsen popular for those seeking relief from various skin conditions.

After your bath, relax or meet up with friends in our first-floor lobby overlooking the pristine forest, or in the spacious tatami lounge on the second floor.

Important Information

• Kawayu Onsen is a highly acidic natural hot spring. If you are feeling unwell or are not in good physical condition, please refrain from bathing.

• For the safety and comfort of all guests, eating and drinking alcohol inside the bathing area is not permitted.

• To protect everyone's privacy, photography and the use of mobile phones or other cameras are strictly prohibited in the bathing area.

• Our hot spring water is delivered directly from the natural source without using a storage tank. Water temperature is controlled by adjusting the flow of fresh hot spring water into each bath. As a result, refilling a bath may take up to 15 hours.

• To avoid the need to drain and refill the baths due to accidental contamination, we kindly ask that guests who are unable to independently control bowel or bladder functions refrain from using the baths, including those wearing diapers or similar products.

• Baby bathing tubs are available to borrow free of charge for infants and young children.
