Over twenty years ago the old lodging house here finally closed its doors for the last time – or so it seemed.
In 2019 we started work on a full renovation, taking out everything (furniture, plumbing, flooring, everything) and starting again from scratch. But we didn’t want to lose what made this place special. So we did our best to make use of as much recycled material as possible.
We used old, discarded (but still beautiful) tiles for the tiling around our sinks and in our bathroom. We inherited—or were gifted—plates, glasses, and more from friends and family. We dug out tools and furniture from our parents’ and relatives’ homes – things previous generations loved and valued, and that we felt deserved to be loved and valued still.

Do you have parking ?
While we don’t have our own car park, there are several free car parks located both at the top and bottom of Magome post town. We strongly recommend you use the closest car park, B-2 (located about 200 metres uphill from sakanomichi), especially if you have heavy luggage with you. The main car parks A-1 and A-2 are both located about 500 metres downhill from sakanomichi, and so are not as convenient.
Is smoking allowed in the facility?
All rooms are nonsmoking. Please use the designated outdoor smoking area.
Can children stay at the accommodation?
Please be aware that, in order to ensure that all our customer the most comfortable stay possible, We cannot accommodate guests under 18 years old.
