SHIKI ART HOTEL YUFU

OITAYUFU-SHI

Rising Sun

A 78㎡ Fully Private Suite at SHIKI ART HOTEL YUFU | Stay in a Museum

Rising Sun is a refined 78㎡ private suite at SHIKI ART HOTEL YUFU, built around the concept of "Stay in a Museum." Once the Sawada Museum, the space — themed "Dreams of New Kids" — showcases carefully selected works by Japan's leading young contemporary artists. Art, light, and space blend seamlessly in a calm, immersive atmosphere.

Limited to two parties per day. The suite is yours alone for the full duration of your stay — a private open-air natural onsen, mountain views from every window, and the slow rhythm of life in central Yufuin.

Living Room

A wide, light-filled gathering space inside the former museum. A soft sectional faces the quiet wall where the 4K projector waits. Bose 901 Series III speakers, original works by young Japanese contemporary artists in considered hang, generous ceilings, the calm of the gallery still in the air.

Dining Room

A long wooden dining table adjacent to the fully equipped kitchen, under warm pendant lighting. Wine glasses, ceramics, and candles wait in the cabinets nearby. The natural place for breakfasts that take time and dinners that linger.

Bedroom

A semi-double bed dressed in linen, set against a wall that fills with daylight. Original works by young Japanese contemporary artists hang in a quiet line, and the windows frame the Yufu mountains beyond. Designed for slow waking and unhurried evenings.

Kitchen

A fully equipped kitchen — cooktop, full cookware and tableware, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, kettle, refrigerator, wine cellar. The complimentary tea and coffee bar is stocked with YUFU COFFEE Ethiopian beans, matcha-blended Genmaicha, and traditional Japanese sweets.

Bathroom & Toilet

A modern bathroom with a separate shower and dressing area, in the same considered palette as the suite. The toilet sits separate from the bath for comfort when the suite is at full occupancy. Full-size amenities and yukata for room wear are provided.

A private in-room natural onsen

A private open-air natural onsen — source-fed, flowing 24 hours a day, yours alone for the full stay. Sit in the warm water in the morning light, soak under the open sky in the evening with the Yufu mountains framing the view. "Lots of windows, stunning mountains, and a private onsen we loved." — past guest.

Architecture & Interior Spaces

The building was an actual museum — the Sawada Museum — before becoming Rising Sun. Wide windows let the mountain light pour in. Calm walls serve as canvases for daylight as much as for the artworks themselves. The flow of art, light, and stillness shapes every passage.

Exterior

A refined former museum building set in the heart of Yufuin. Behind the gated entrance: a quiet entry, the considered exterior, and just beyond — Yunotsubo Kaido and the Yufu mountains framing every view.
