Admire the Garden, Soak in the Hot Springs, Savor the Seasons
Kappo no Yado Imai is an intimate Japanese ryokan with just 11 guest rooms, nestled in the renowned Tsukioka Onsen of Niigata Prefecture.
Surrounded by a traditional Japanese garden that transforms with the seasons, the inn invites you to unwind in the mineral-rich hot springs known as the "Bijin no Yu" (Beauty Hot Spring) while enjoying carefully crafted kaiseki cuisine served one course at a time in a peaceful setting.
A Peaceful Stay Overlooking a Japanese Garden
Step inside, and you'll be welcomed by the tranquil beauty of a traditional Japanese garden stretching across the windows.
Set within a spacious 10,000-square-meter (approximately 3,000 tsubo) property, the garden offers a different atmosphere throughout the year—from fresh greenery in spring to vibrant autumn colors and serene winter landscapes. Whether viewed from your room or the lounge, every season brings its own quiet charm.
With only 11 guest rooms, the ryokan offers an intimate atmosphere where you'll rarely encounter crowds. The hot spring baths are also pleasantly uncrowded, allowing you to enjoy a truly relaxing stay.

Kaiseki Cuisine, Prepared One Course at a Time
Another highlight of Imai is its traditional kaiseki cuisine, thoughtfully prepared by the head chef.
Each dish is carefully finished and served according to the pace of your meal, allowing you to savor every course at its best.

Using seasonal ingredients from Niigata, the chef prepares everything with exceptional attention to detail—even the homemade plum wine and desserts are crafted in-house. Many returning guests visit year after year specifically to enjoy the cuisine, making it one of the ryokan's most cherished experiences.
A Relaxing Day in Tsukioka Onsen
A short walk downhill from the ryokan brings you to the charming streets of Tsukioka Onsen.
Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the town, stopping at foot baths, local sake tastings, wine shops, and small boutiques before returning to the ryokan for a soothing soak in the hot springs and an unforgettable kaiseki dinner.
It's a simple yet deeply rewarding way to experience the best of Tsukioka.

Kappo no Yado Imai is also a popular destination for celebrating life's special occasions, including milestone birthdays such as 60th (Kanreki) and 70th (Koki) celebrations, family gatherings, and engagement meetings.
With its peaceful atmosphere, heartfelt hospitality, and exceptional cuisine, we are honored to help create memories that will be cherished for years to come.
