Welcome to Hinohara Village
Hinohara Village, the only village in Tokyo excluding its islands, is nestled on the western edge of the metropolis. This is a region rich in nature, surrounded by mountains, where you can hear the gentle murmur of rivers and the cheerful chirping of birds.
Discover Tanagokoro Village
Tanagokoro Village was built right by the Minami-Akigawa River, which flows through the southern part of Hinohara Village, utilizing local timber.
Within Tanagokoro Village, we offer a variety of ways to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings:
Tanagokoro Bakery: Enjoy our homemade yeast bread, pizza and pasta here.
Tanagokoro Sauna Oasis: Experience the ultimate in natural integration with our sauna.
Yuraku: This facility allows you to customize your experience with saunas, BBQs, and river activities.
Chame House: Dog-friendly, treehouse-inspired cottage.
Hidamari: Private Rental Accommodation Ideal for Training Camps and Workshops.
We hope to provide you with a comfortable and calming space, filled with the warmth and quality of handmade craftsmanship.
Tanagokoro Village began with a small bakery nestled in the mountains.
Our homemade yeast bread allows you to truly taste the natural flavor of the wheat. It's made without eggs, dairy products, sugar, or added fats, making it a delightful choice even for those with allergies. (Please note: some items like baked goods do contain eggs, butter, and sugar.)
Beyond bread, we offer a menu that emphasizes domestic and organic ingredients whenever possible. Enjoy authentic stone-oven baked pizza cooked with firewood, along with pasta, drinks, and more.
In 2023, a sauna finally arrived at Tanagokoro Village! You can now enjoy the ultimate sauna experience in a luxurious sauna hut and deck built with local Hinohara timber, right by the Akigawa River.
Inside the sauna room, you'll find a wood-burning stove that uses Hinohara-grown firewood, perfect for löyly (sauna steam). The deck is fully equipped with a shower, cold plunge tub, and chairs. After your body is warmed to the core, you can dive into the Akigawa River flowing right in front of you, or simply soak in the exclusive view of the valley.
This sauna is by reservation only, ensuring a private space where you can enjoy a truly unique experience.
Please remember to bring and wear your swimsuit.
It's available for day use, and guests staying overnight can enjoy it at a special rate!
Yuraku is a spacious cottage perfect for large groups, accommodating up to 21 people with its extensive barbecue area. It's just a short walk to the Akigawa River, a clear stream flowing through Hinohara Village, making it ideal for summer river play with family and friends. The cottage also comes with a kitchen and bath.

Following the incredibly popular Tanagokoro Sauna Oasis—which many have called "the best sauna ever"—we've now added Oasis II at Yuraku! (Opening May 15, 2024)
Like Oasis, the sauna room in Oasis II features a wood-burning stove fueled by firewood made from Hinohara-grown timber, harvested by Inoue-ten Inc., the company operating Tanagokoro Village. A barrel-shaped cold plunge tub is conveniently located right in front of the sauna room. And, of course, you can still jump into the Akigawa River flowing just steps away.
Both Yuraku and Oasis II are available for overnight stays or day trips.
Please note: The 3-hour day-use plan for Yuraku does not include access to the barbecue space. Remember to bring and wear your swimsuit for the sauna.

You can share this special experience with your beloved dog (up to 10kg). Chame House is an adult's secret base, offering a luxurious escape where you can savor an outdoor atmosphere. Here, you can immerse yourself in the sounds of the river, the chirping of birds, and the clean air, truly experiencing the grand nature of Tokyo.
"Chame" is the name of the operating company's president's beloved dog. At Chame House, we ensure that your cherished dog, a valued family member (one small to medium-sized dog per stay), can also enjoy their time in Hinohara Village.
If you wish to stay with two or three dogs, you can book both Chame House and Hidamari on the same dates. This allows you to comfortably enjoy the amenities of Chame House with ample space for your furry friends.
