Jisaburo Ozawa was born in Takanabe-cho, Miyazaki Prefecture in 1886 as the second son of a former Takanabe feudal retainer. Later to become the last Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet as a Vice Admiral of the Navy, Jisaburo spent his youth studying in his birthplace in the Takanabe area. An American military historian described him as "a masterful admiral with scientific leadership suited to modern warfare," and he was a man of great analytical ability and decisiveness.
This is an old two-story wooden house more than 150 years old, which is also a historical heritage of the area. The beams and pillars have been preserved to give a sense of the atmosphere of those days, and the furnishings are exquisitely refined, preserving the ambiance of the house.

Known as the "Town of Culture and Education," Takanabe has been a castle town of the Takanabe Domain, producing many remarkable individuals throughout its long history. The most famous of these is Taneshige Akizuki, the 7th lord of the Takanabe Domain. He was the elder brother of Yozan Uesugi and the person whom Yozan respected the most.
To experience such history, you can visit Maizuru Park, located about 700 meters away, where Takanabe Castle once stood. The park offers a glimpse into the town's historical significance. The Takanabe History Museum also exhibits materials related to Jisaburo Ozawa.
