An important thing in Nara we made it an inn.
Five Machiya that were born in Kidera town about 100 years ago. This building, which was once about to be demolished, has been renovated so that it can be lived in again.
Our core business is an architecture firm called "Fujioka Architecture Laboratory", which has been renovating Machiya and old folk houses for many years.
However, even in Japan , even in Nara, traditional buildings such as Machiya are being demolished one after another.
We want to preserve traditional Japanese buildings for future generations. I would like people who have never lived in a Machiya to know the goodness of living in a Machiya. "Kidera no ie" was born in 2011 with this thought in mind.
Machiya has many wonderful features that are not found in apartments or newly built houses. The warmth of a house made of natural materials such as wood and soil. The comfortableness created by the gentle connection between the house and the garden, the inside and the outside. The spirituality that dwells in the house that continues to repair and use only the parts that have deteriorated.
We would be happy if you could experience “modern machiya living” by becoming a machiya resident for one night at Kidera House and feel the quality of a machiya and machiya living.

Kidera no ie is located in Naramachi area, a nice place allowing you to visit the main temple and Shrine in Nara.(World heritage site:Todaiji temple, Koufukuji temple, Kasuga shrine and Kasugayama Primeval Forest)

Nara was a capital in Japan 1300 years ago.Nara is one of the country's most rewarding destinations.
You can visit some World heritage sites , stroll through the old merchant district of ”Naramachi ”and really immerse yourself in early Japanese history, art and architecture. There are many private shops and restaurants nowadays.

1. Machiya are historical structures with low ceilings.
As such, we ask our guests to be cautious to avoid unnecessary accidents or injuries.
2. Machiya, as part of the local residential community,
reserves the right to refuse reservations or terminate accommodations of guests who engage in behavior
and activities potentially disruptive and unwelcome to the residents of the neighbouring homes.
3. Machiya only welcomes guests age 12 and older.
4. Guests are responsible for any damages- internal or external - they cause.
5. For fire safety reasons, Machiya is a strictly non-smoking establishment.
And given the historical wooden architecture, any use of fire is prohibited (which includes cooking).
6. There are no dining facilities on premise, and only breakfast (included in the cost) is provided.
