It's a small town called Kahoku, just 8 kilometers across, nestled between the Mogami River—known as the “mother river of Yamagata”—and the clear waters of the Sagae River, fed by snowmelt from Mount Gassan.
Over ten years ago, a group of farmers began growing Italian vegetables here. Through patience and trial and error, their efforts blossomed into a proud specialty of the town—now known across Japan for its outstanding quality.

In addition to Italian vegetables, the region offers a rich selection of local specialties, from seasonal fruits and locally brewed sake to traditional miso, soba noodles, and even handmade slippers, all reflecting the passion and craftmanship of the region.
