HOSTEL NINIROOM

KYOTO・SAKYO-KU, KYOTO-SHI

Going to see friends living in Kyoto

We love its understated charm, set slightly back from the street, and its retro tiles. Our terrace also occasionally hosts small markets and events.

To us, travel means going to visit a friend,
and enjoying the simple, everyday moments of their life together.

The people you meet, the food you taste, and the views you see along the way
somehow become special before you even realize it.

A journey where you choose your destination simply because
a friend is there, or because there’s a room that feels like home.

We want NINIROOM to be just like that —
like a friend’s room in Kyoto, where you can feel a little at home.

The view of the Kamo River from the bridge.

NINIROOM is just a 15-minute walk from Gion and Shijo, in the heart of Kyoto.

But what we really recommend is experiencing everyday life in Okazaki — a neighborhood close to Kyoto’s culture and nature, where local life is still very much alive. The kind of everyday Kyoto you won’t find in guidebooks.

Just a 5-minute walk away, the Kamo River is part of everyday life here. People come to picnic, run, practice music, play sports, read, work out, take a nap...

It’s a beloved part of the city — a place where all kinds of people and everyday scenes come together.

A 40-year-old building, lovingly renovated into a warm and welcoming hostel

Each NINIROOM guest room has a different design. Designer Aino is in charge of space design to provide a minimalist yet comfortable stay.

Originally built as a warehouse and office for a printing company, this three-story building is over 40 years old.

We renovated and opened it as NINIROOM in 2017, keeping some of its original retro charm while creating a comfortable space for our guests to stay.

We offer a variety of private rooms, as well as mixed and female-only dormitories.

The shared shower rooms include a women-only floor on the third floor.

There’s also a shared kitchen, making NINIROOM a comfortable place to stay for longer visits.

A Café Lounge Where Locals and Travelers Meet

The first floor of NINIROOM is our café lounge — a place to relax, chat, get some work done, or simply take your time.

It’s a welcoming space where local life and travelers naturally come together.

A base for travelers to spend their daily life in this town.

NINIROOM is only a 15-minute walk to Gion and Shijo, the central districts of Kyoto.

But what we recommend is to experience the everyday life of this town of Okazaki, which is close to culture and nature. This is a trip to experience the "everyday life of this town" that you won't find in any guidebooks.

The first floor of NINIROOM is a café-lounge used by neighbors. Relax, chat, or work. You can gather information about your plans for the day over a morning meal here.

This is the hub of the town where "residents" and "visitors" come and go. Ask the people who live here for recommendations.

The Kamo River, a 5-minute walk from NINI, is a place for picnics, running, practicing musical instruments, club activities, reading, muscle training, napping.... It is an indispensable part of everyday life in Kyoto, where a variety of people and scenes mix.

On days when you don't have any plans, you can just buy a sandwich, bring a cup of coffee, spread out a sheet and spend the day in a daze.

Okazaki, where NINIROOM is located, is a cultural area with many museums and universities, including the Kyocera Museum of Art, a renovated historical building, as well as Heian Shrine, Nanzenji Temple, and other attractions of modern Kyoto.

Kyoto Kyocera Museum of Art. It is illuminated at night depending on the season.

On the other hand, since many of the neighborhoods are traditional residential areas, there are many private stores tucked away in back streets, many small stores with specialties, and some famous stores that attract enthusiasts.

Seikosha continues to propose a new way of thinking about "bookstores in town," and is a 10-minute walk from NINIROOM.
I love it! Kumano Wine House!

Cafes, wine, art, bread, books, coffee, bar....

We want to tell (secretly) those stores run by our favorite people, their delicious menus, to those who understand!

Renovated 40 year old building. Hostel sprinkled with the sisters' particular ideas.

Originally used as a warehouse and office for a printing company, this three-story building is over 40 years old.

While retaining its retro flavor in places, NINIROOM was renovated and opened in 2017 to provide guests with a comfortable stay.

We love its secluded appearance, set back slightly from the street, and retro tiles. Small marche and events are held on the terrace on an irregular basis.
Multiple showers and toilets on each floor. There is also a women-only area.https://prd-assets.chillnn.com/public/171c4e2865c2d3/imgs/pubimg.1617773515343.jpgThe lounge on the first floor, which is reserved for guests at night. It is always a favorite scene to see the staff and guests who have met here interacting with each other.

Sisters Aino (left) and Mone (right)." The name "NINI" comes from the "NI" in their last name NISHIHAMA.

Come and experience the everyday life that flows through this town as if you were visiting the rooms of our NINI sisters.

The destination becomes your place.

At first, everything is extraordinary in this unknown town.

At the end of your trip, we will be very happy if it has become a "special place" for you.

Going to visit the town where your friends live. Why don't you try such a trip?
