Tipy records inn house

A 50-year-old former ryokan, renovated into a private home for up to 12 guests: about 100 m², a 3-minute walk from the East Exit of Odawara Station. Perfect for family reunions and group trips.

■A traditional Japanese house with records

Slide open the fusuma doors, sit on tatami around a low chabudai table, sleep on futons and enjoy morning coffee on the wooden deck, just like a Japanese family home. We kept the original furniture and fittings. Upstairs, the pink-walled lounge has a record player, and the records on the shelf were left by travellers who stayed before you. Pick one, or bring your own.

■The house

・1F: two connected 6-tatami rooms used as a living & dining space (low tables, chabudai, zabuton cushions), tokonoma alcove, wooden deck, kitchen, bathroom, washroom, 2 toilets

・2F: a Western-style lounge with sofa, TV and record player, a balcony, and 2 tatami bedrooms separated by fusuma sliding doors (3 futons each)

・All beds are futons on tatami. For groups of 9 or more, please move the chabudai on the 1st floor and lay out the futons there yourselves

・Air conditioning on both floors, 2 portable ceramic heaters

・Kitchen: fridge & freezer, IH stove, microwave, kettle, rice cooker, tableware & wine glasses, basic cookware, coffee with a hand grinder and dripper

・Washing machine (detergent provided), Wi-Fi, TV (Netflix and other streaming services)

・Amenities: face towel, bath towel, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, face wash, hairdryer

・Kids' tableware, card games

■Dinner: Odawara Local Food Delivery Plan (*reservation required)

Stays are room-only, but we can deliver our favourite local food to the house: sashimi, pizza, kamaboko (fish cake) and more, the food our staff actually eat. Please message us to order at least 5 days in advance.

■Check-in & access

・Check-in 15:00-22:00 at Café & Lounge photon, a 30-second walk away. After 22:00, or on days the café is closed, self check-in with a key box is available (please let us know in advance). Check-out 10:00.

・Luggage: we can keep your bags at the house from 10:00 on your check-in day (please contact us in advance). We cannot store luggage after check-out; please use the coin lockers at Odawara Station.

・A 3-minute walk from the East Exit of Odawara Station. The Shinkansen gates are on the West Exit side, so allow about 7 minutes on foot.

・No parking. You can stop briefly in front of the house to unload, but the parking lot in front of the house is not ours, and parking there will result in a fine. Several coin parking lots are within a 1-2 minute walk.

■Please read before booking

・There is one standard home-size bath (and 2 toilets). Many guests also enjoy the hot springs in Odawara and Hakone

・This is a renovated old wooden house, not a hotel. Floors and stairs may creak

・The piano upstairs is decorative and not tuned

・One room on the 1st floor is a storage room and is off-limits

・Staff are not on site at the house, but are at Café & Lounge photon during opening hours

・Quiet residential area: please keep noise down, especially between 22:00 and 08:00

Tipy records inn is a guesthouse spread across 6 buildings (17 rooms) near Odawara Station, all within a 1-minute walk of each other. From Odawara, Hakone is about 15 minutes by train, and the sea is a 20-minute walk.
