It was born from a collaboration between RISE & WIN Brewing Co. and HOTEL WHY, out of a shared wish to offer guests a deeper encounter with Kamikatsu than an ordinary stay could provide.

The stage for this journey is Kamikatsu, Tokushima — the first town in Japan to declare "Zero Waste." Though small, this town has preserved something powerful and beautiful: a complete, living cycle of circulation.

So that guests arriving by air from farther afield can join as well, the tour begins at midday on Saturday and ends at midday on Sunday.

Schedule

■ DAY 1: Discover, Touch, Taste

12:00 — Gather at RISE & WIN Brewing Co. & travel to the rice-terrace village for lunch
Enjoy a takeout original burger.
Eat lunch in a thatched-roof farmhouse overlooking rice terraces recognized among Japan's "Top 100 Rice Terraces."
In case of rain or scheduling conflicts with local events, lunch may be served at RISE & WIN Brewing Co. instead.
*The September departure features a special lunch — kamado-cooked rice shared with the HOTEL WHY rice-harvesting team.

14:30 — Tour of the KAMIKATZ BEER brewery
See firsthand the resource cycle inspired by Kamikatsu's way of life: spent malt is turned into liquid fertilizer, which is used to grow the next crop of barley for the next batch of beer.

16:30 — Check in at HOTEL WHY & "STUDY WHY"
At check-in, try your hand at zero-waste actions while imagining a "no-waste" way of living in your room.
Afterward, join the "STUDY WHY" facility tour program to learn about Kamikatsu's Zero Waste initiatives.

18:00 — BBQ dinner at RISE & WIN
In the evening, raise a glass together with staff and fellow tour guests around a shared table.
*Return transport to HOTEL WHY is scheduled for around 21:00.

■ DAY 2: Practice, Return

08:30 — Breakfast
A breakfast rich with local ingredients, alongside the fresh mountain morning air.

10:00 — Waste-sorting experience
As a final activity, sort everything you used in your room into 44 categories — a hands-on experience of the zero-waste lifestyle rooted in Kamikatsu.

10:30 — Check-out
The tour concludes at check-out.
From here, guests are free to go their own way.

Important Notes on This Plan

① This plan is only available to guests who can gather at RISE & WIN by 12:00 on Day 1. Joining partway through the tour is not possible.

② This plan includes: accommodation, meals (both days), the tour experience, and a limited-edition beer souvenir (barrel-aged beer and craft beer).

③ Guests are responsible for arranging their own transportation.
*A free transfer-arrangement support option is also available — please see the option menu during the booking process for details.

④ This plan requires a minimum of 2 guests per booking.
*Maximum capacity is 16 guests per day.

⑤ Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free requests can be accommodated. Please note your request in the remarks field at the time of booking.

⑥ The schedule may vary depending on weather and season. Thank you for your understanding.

Children and Minors

■ Elementary-school age and younger (age 11 and under)
The following kids' policy applies:

- Ages 0–5: No bedding, no lunch, no dinner

- Ages 6–11: Bedding included, lunch and dinner included (a children's menu is provided)

*A meal option for children aged 0–5 is also available — please see the option menu during booking.
*Please note that options cannot be added on the day of the tour.
*If bedding is required for a guest aged 0–5, please book them as a 6-year-old.

■ Minors of junior-high-school age and older
The kids' policy does not apply.
These guests are counted and prepared for as one adult guest each (a discounted rate applies).

*Bookings consisting only of minors, with no accompanying adult, cannot be accepted.

■ RISE & WIN Brewing Co.／STONE WALL HILL
"JUST DRINK KAMIKATZ BEER"
A microbrewery that symbolizes Kamikatsu's Zero Waste philosophy — where the simple act of "drinking" becomes a step toward protecting the environment.
Here, brewing beer is itself part of the cycle: spent malt is turned into liquid fertilizer, which grows the barley for the next beer.
Enjoy a glass that condenses the richness of Tokushima's nature, inside a uniquely designed building built from reclaimed materials.

■ Yaeji Village / Kamikatsu Kayabuki School
Tucked deep in the mountains of Kamikatsu, Yaeji is home to terraced rice paddies recognized among Japan's "Top 100 Rice Terraces."
Here, a pure cycle of nature still lives on: rain falls on the mountains, flows through the streams, nourishes the rice terraces, and grows the rice.
With the aging population here now nearing 80%, the elders who thatched the roof of the old Hanano residence with their own hands use it as a base for passing down the way of life rooted in this place — an effort known as the Kamikatsu Kayabuki School.

The spirit of temagai (mutual labor exchange) still lives here — a culture of helping one another with re-thatching roofs, rice planting, harvesting thatch grass, and other seasonal work.
