About Miyako Island

Miyako Island is about 300 km southwest of Okinawa Island.

Miyako Island is surrounded by the emerald green sea and has the unique slow air of a remote island.

Traditional events and culture are still strongly rooted in the lives of the people, such as ayag (Miyako folk song), otoree, pantou (festival), Miyako fabric, and Shinto rituals.

About yomo

The building is 53 years old. Although it was damaged and old in many places, we decided to renovate it by making use of the existing structure instead of rebuilding it.

This is an unprecedented approach in this area.

Looking at the present state of Miyako Island

As we look around the island, we see old buildings left empty and vacant.

Vacant lots are being replaced with apartments and condominiums that look like something you've seen somewhere else.

Although there are some problems unique to remote islands, such as the cost of transporting materials and the shortage of craftsmen

I also feel a sense of sadness that the face of the island is gradually changing.

Through our first renovation

For us, this was our first renovation in Miyakojima.

It was a series of challenges for the craftsmen.

At first, we were at a loss, and there were times when the construction didn't go well. However, over time, it began to take shape.

In post-war Miyakojima, all the islanders built thatched-roof houses together in the spirit of "Yuimaaru" (mutual help).

In the same way, yomo was completed thanks to the cooperation of many island craftsmen.

Today, the craftsmen who were involved in the project are happy to talk about the inn.

▲The ceiling is exposed to create an open space with a ceiling height of 3.4 meters. Large openings allow plenty of sunlight to stream in.

▲Although the impression was changed by painting in white, the existing fittings were utilized to create a nostalgic atmosphere.

Life on the island with my favorite vessels

The tableware is mainly Yachimun, and the coffee beans are from the popular NINGIN Coffee's Shop on the island.

We have everything we need to live here.

In the stainless steel kitchen with flower blocks for legs, you can enjoy buying ingredients unique to the island at nearby supermarkets.

We're also planning to offer a service where you can cook Miyako Island's local cuisine with the island's aunties!

We don't have the extravagant services of a resort hotel, nor do we have a private beach or ocean view rooms.

However, we have created a room that is nostalgic and somewhat warm.

We hope you will spend a moment like a normal day in Miyako Island, with the slow atmosphere of a remote island.
