[Introduction to the Famous Mountains of Akiyamago]
Mt. Naeba (Elevation: 2,145m):
Straddling both Nagano and Niigata prefectures, Mt. Naeba is a renowned peak known for its vast highland marshes that span over 600 hectares. Scattered throughout the wetlands are numerous small ponds (called chitō, small marshland pools), and visitors can enjoy a variety of alpine plants.
Mt. Torikabuto (Elevation: 2,037m):
Mt. Torikabuto has two climbing routes and is known for its rugged rock walls—so much so that it is sometimes called the “Second Mt. Tanigawa.” Along the way, patches of perennial snow offer a refreshing sight.
Mt. Saburyū (Elevation: 2,191m):
This is an advanced hiking route with river crossings and steep climbs. The panoramic view from the summit is absolutely stunning.
Come and experience the rugged yet breathtakingly beautiful mountains of the hidden region of Akiyamago.
