About the Water of Kawayu Onsen
Kawayu Onsen is famous for its highly acidic natural hot spring water.
There is even a local saying that "a five-inch iron nail will dissolve in just one week." While this is a traditional expression emphasizing the strength of the water, it reflects the remarkable acidity of the spring.
Because of this unique mineral composition, corrosion of metal fixtures throughout the bathhouse is unavoidable and should be considered a natural characteristic of Kawayu Onsen.
The acidic environment also shortens the lifespan of electrical appliances, and occasionally equipment or amenities may malfunction unexpectedly. We appreciate your understanding.
About Insects
Our open-air bath overlooks a beautiful protected national forest, one of the unique attractions of our hot spring.
Because the bath is surrounded by nature, insects may occasionally enter the outdoor bath area, especially during warmer seasons.
Insect nets are provided beside the bath for your convenience should you wish to remove any insects from the water.
If you are uncomfortable around insects, please be aware that using the outdoor bath may not always be suitable depending on natural conditions.
We appreciate your understanding and hope you enjoy the unique experience of bathing in the heart of nature.
