LANDFORM Workshop Cottage KEIHOKU is located in a mountain village an hour's drive from Kyoto Station.
The Keihoku area has produced a variety of foodstuffs and building materials for the emperor since ancient times, and was also an important region along the Saba Highway to the west, which carried seafood from Fukui Prefecture.
The surrounding natural environment is abundant, and the area retains a unique landscape of old houses built in the gassho-zukuri style.
Here we will introduce you to the scenery of the four seasons.
Spring
Spring in Keihoku comes with the blooming of cherry blossoms.
The cherry blossoms blooming throughout the city and in the gardens of Josho-koji Temple are one of the most famous in Kyoto.
This is the perfect time to take a walk and enjoy the spring in Keihoku.
Summer
Wherever you look in Keihoku in early summer, you are surrounded by fresh green nature. Fireflies color the night sky and anglers make the river lively.
The temperature in Keihoku is about 3 degrees cooler than in Kyoto City, making it very comfortable and pleasant.
Autumn
As autumn arrives in Keihoku, you will see here and there reddish trees, grasses, and flowers.
The vegetables harvested in Keihoku are very tasty and gently heal both body and soul.
Winter
It is the season of snow. Just looking at the silvery white world of snow piled up all around you is enough to heal your body and soul.
This is the most delicious season of the year for local hot pots, soups, and gibier dishes made with ingredients from the northern part of Kyoto and cooked over an open hearth.
As you can see, every season is a treasure trove of attractions in Keihoku.
We hope you will enjoy all the seasons.
