GOKAN KOTOHIRA is a private, whole-house stay renovated from a former shop along the approach to Kotohira-gu Shrine in Kotohira, Kagawa.
Located in a quiet local shopping street, it offers a unique mix of authentic local life and the special atmosphere of a historic destination.
Just a 5-minute walk from JR Kotohira Station and Kotoden Kotohira Station, and 3 minutes to the shrine approach.
Old cafés, hidden local izakayas, and our sister cafés and restaurants are all nearby—perfect for exploring the town on foot.
At GOKAN KOTOHIRA, each of our five buildings is designed around one of the Five Elements from traditional East Asian philosophy: Metal, Fire, Earth, Wood, and Water.
In contrast to the everyday atmosphere of the surrounding shopping street, the rooms offer a calm, immersive space where you can enjoy a truly special, out-of-the-ordinary stay.
“FIRE” sleeps up to 6 guests and comes with board games and a game console—perfect for groups.
“METAL” features striking gold-toned wallpaper and an open, airy design—ideal for couples.
“WATER” is a chic room inspired by the depths of the ocean.
“EARTH” is a dog-friendly room with a dirt-floor living space and pet amenities.
“WOOD” offers a Japanese-style experience with tatami flooring and a private single-person sauna. All rooms are equipped with a fully equipped kitchen.
From couples and groups to families and guests traveling with dogs, you can choose the room that best suits your needs.
For details on amenities and in-room facilities, please refer to each room’s description.

Around GOKAN KOTOHIRA, we also operate several facilities renovated from former vacant shops.
Together with our accommodation and four directly operated venues, we treat the entire area as one hotel—inviting guests to explore and enjoy the town as part of their stay. This is our “town-wide hotel” concept.
Guests staying at GOKAN KOTOHIRA receive exclusive benefits for our affiliated venues.
