Zen & Waterfall Spiritual Journey – 2-Night Cultural Immersion
Experience Japan beyond sightseeing.
Stay in a 150-year-old private cultural residence, limited to one group per day.
Discover Zen meditation, waterfall purification, and traditional cuisine.
At Shirafuji, this two-night journey invites you to slow down and discover the spiritual side of Japanese culture — through Zen meditation, sacred waterfall purification, traditional cuisine, and quiet moments in a historic residence.
Shirafuji is a 150-year-old cultural residence registered as a national cultural property.
Limited to only one group per day, the house becomes your private retreat.
Surrounded by a peaceful Japanese garden, it is the perfect place to begin a journey into Japanese culture and spirituality.
Your stay begins with a traditional Japanese welcome.
Upon arrival, we serve seasonal wagashi (traditional sweets) and matcha tea while you relax and enjoy the quiet garden view.
This moment marks the beginning of your cultural journey.
In the evening, enjoy a Sukiyaki dinner prepared at Shirafuji.
Shinshu Wagyu beef is gently simmered with vegetables in a traditional iron pot.
Cooked together at the table, Sukiyaki is more than a meal — it is a shared cultural experience at the heart of Japanese dining.
Waterfall Pilgrimage
The second day begins with a spiritual journey into the mountains.
After a short temple visit and chanting experience, we travel about one hour to the mountains of Nagano and hike 40 minutes through forest trails to reach the sacred Yonako Falls.
Here, guided by a local master, you will experience traditional waterfall purification.
Standing beneath the powerful mountain waterfall, you feel the energy of nature and the ancient practice of spiritual cleansing.
For many guests, this becomes the most unforgettable moment of their stay in Japan.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional Kaiseki dinner at a local restaurant.
This multi-course Japanese cuisine highlights seasonal ingredients and refined culinary techniques.
Kimono dressing can also be arranged upon request for a truly memorable cultural evening.
Zen Morning
On the final morning, visit a nearby temple for a Zazen meditation experience.
Guided by a monk, you will learn the basics of Zen meditation and experience a quiet moment of mindfulness.
After returning to Shirafuji, enjoy a relaxed breakfast featuring Oyaki, a traditional Shinshu specialty.
Take your time, enjoy the garden, and reflect on the journey before departure.
Stay in culture. Experience Japan.
Limited to one group per day.
Reserve your stay and experience the spirit of Japan.
This is not just a stay.
It is a journey into the spirit of Japan.
