Winter Hut Stay Plan (from Dec 1)

Winter Season Use
From mid-December to early April, the lounge and shower facilities are closed to prevent freezing. During periods of heavy snowfall, guests will be asked to park their vehicles at a designated area away from their rooms.

Please note that vehicles equipped with snow tires are required for access during the winter season.

Before making a reservation, kindly review the information provided under 【Winter Use Guidelines】 to ensure a safe and comfortable stay.

Winter in Yatsugatake reveals a slightly different side of the mountain.
The air is clearer, and the forest is deeply quiet.
Simply walking through it brings a sense of calm and peace.

Scattered across the grounds of ist are small huts—simple yet inviting little houses.
Wake up to the morning light, cook a meal, share it, read a book. In a Hut, you can spend your time as if living alongside the ever-changing nature around you.

Though compact, each Hut is filled with the unique charm of ist, offering everything you need without ever feeling lacking.

And even in the harsh, cold winters of Yatsugatake, every Hut is equipped with its own heating to keep you warm and comfortable.

Even a stay inside the Hut will leave you with lasting memories—but if you take one step outside, you’ll find even more ways to enjoy the winter landscape of Yatsugatake.

First, there’s hiking.
As you walk along snow-covered ridges, you become keenly aware of the rhythm of your own breath and the crunch of snow beneath your feet.
Because snow absorbs sound, the mountains in winter are wrapped in an even deeper silence.
When you pause, a gentle stillness surrounds you, offering the perfect moment to reflect.
And from the summit, the clear, far-reaching views are a reward only winter can provide.

After a day of hiking, head to a nearby hot spring. Feel your chilled body gradually warm up, letting out a relaxed sigh of contentment. Soaking in a large bath while taking in the surrounding winter scenery is a pleasure unique to the season.

After returning to your Hut, gather around the wood stove or a bonfire for a relaxed dinner. Outside, the scenery is crystal clear—something you can only see in winter—and above, the stars stretch across the sky. In the cold winter air, the warmth of the fire feels even more comforting. During winter stays, firewood and firestarters are provided, so you can enjoy a cozy bonfire with ease.

The next morning, wake up slowly while enjoying the view outside your window, and after check-out, stop by a nearby café for a cup of coffee. Spending a relaxed moment there, chatting about yesterday’s experiences, is highly recommended.

Afterward, take some time to prepare your gear for the next hike.
With the sights and experiences of winter in Yatsugatake fresh in your mind, your plans for the next mountain adventure begin to take shape.
These small, thoughtful preparations build up, leading naturally to your next enjoyable outing.

What we’ve shared so far is just one way to spend your time in Yatsugatake during winter. Simply enjoying the mountain walks, hot springs, and evenings by the fire brings experiences and pleasures that are hard to find in everyday life. We invite you to choose a Hut that catches your eye and discover your own way of spending time here.

In addition, we’ve prepared a guide map featuring other wonderful spots to enjoy around ist. Please take a look—it’s a great reference for your stay.
